Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral conscious sedation is administered in the form of a single pill that you will take before your appointment. Typically, the medication is in the diazepam family, like Valium, and it kicks in within about 30 minutes. Once you feel the effects, we can take you back to one of our treatment areas and help you get comfortable. You’ll be able to speak with us, ask questions, and remain conscious, but you’ll feel significantly more relaxed. Because the effects can linger for several hours, you’ll need to have someone take you home after your appointment.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Nitrous oxide is a fast-acting form of sedation dentistry that’s administered in-office as soon as you get in the treatment chair. We’ll place a small nose mask on you to allow you to inhale the sedation. Within just a few moments, you’ll feel a calming wave wash over you. Once your treatment is complete or your appointment is over, we’ll have you breathe in oxygen to help flush the effects out of your system. Once you’re ready to leave and all of the effects have worn off, you can carry on with your day as you normally would.
